Effects of Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) on Growth, Nitrates and Osmoprotectant Content in Microgreens of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants

Microgreens are receiving increasing attention due to their high content of bioactive components and importance human health. These emerging food products can be obtained from the seeds different plant species, including aromatic herbs. Aromatic microgreens gaining popularity as new functional products. In this study, we investigated effects light-emitting diode (LED) lamp spectra on growth, pigments, nitrates, osmoprotectant Ocimum basilicum L., Trigonella foenum-graecum, Anethum graveolens, Anthriscus cerefolium plants. Three types artificial LED lamps were used: T0 white light, T1 a continuous with longer blue wavelength, T2 red wavelength. The results showed that three light had significant parameters studied. relation growth parameters, such fresh weight (FW) microgreen height (H), treatment was most effective for fenugreek, dill, chervil. However, in basil plants, FW H values higher under treatment. Regarding nitrate accumulation, both treatments reduced nutrient species studied here. Finally, levels chlorophyll, carotenoid, glucose, proline, proteins all plants cultivated than control
